We are utilizing the latest digital X-ray equipment. This includes the digital volume tomography (DVT), which allows three-dimensional analysis of the facial skeleton. Panoramic radiographs are overview shots of the jaw. For fine-scale views of the jaw, we utilize high-resolution dental film in digital film technology.
In collaboration with the radiology department of the ATOS Clinic, we additionally offer you also all digital plain skull radiographs.
Digital volume tomography (DVT)
The digital volume tomography (DVT) bears similarities to computed tomography (CT) X-ray - examination. Bu.t in comparison, DVT uses approximately 80% less radiation. The 3-dimensional, non-superimposed representation of the facial skull with no loss of dimension enables a precise spatial analysis of the facial skull with its special anatomical features
With this technique, even teeth that are dislocated in a complicated way can be distinguished from adjacent structures such as the mandibular nerve, if standard X-rays didn’t provide reliable information. For example, the digital volume tomography provides data to use in the computer-aided planning of the positioning of dental implants.
Analogous to this is the procedure for the 3-dimensional, computer-based planning of malocclusion surgeries. This planning can then be exactly implemented in the surgical correction of the mandibular position.
Computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and scintigraphy
